SUMMARY:Opening Reception for “Taking Shape: Story\, Hand\, Experience”
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, December 2\, 2016 from 5pm-8pm\, Sarah Dressler and Susan O'Hanlon will be at their Opening Reception for "Taking Shape: Story\, Hand\, Experience" at The Palette & The Page. \n\n\n\n"Taking Shape: Story\, Hand\, Experience" features the mixed media work of Sarah Dressler with hand sculpted dolls and art\, along with Susan O-Hanlon featuring both functional and decorative ceramics.\n\n\n\nSarah Dressler\, originally from the Philadelphia area\, graduated from The University of the Arts with a BFA in Crafts/Metals. Her focus in college was largely on jewelry and no matter what medium she is working in she continues to work on a jewelers scale to this day. She discovered art dolls in 2001 and fell in love with the infinite variety of materials and styles that can be incorporated into these small sculptures. Additionally\, Sarah has been demonstrating\n\nthe art of calligraphy and illumination as a featured artist at the Medieval Festival and the Sacred Arts Festivals at the Glen Cairn Museum\, in Bryn Athyn\, PA since 2009. \n\n\n\nEncountering clay in her life's journey several times\, Susan O'Hanlon finally embraced the challenge of working with this medium about ten years ago. She loves all that clay has to offer: limitless possibilities for self-expression\, endless opportunity to learn and grow as she masters her craft\, and unparalleled technical challenges to overcome and entertain Susan for the rest of her life. For Susan\, there is a certain spiritual experience in working with clay. This show features both decorative and functional ceramics.\n\n\n\nThe exhibit will continue through Friday\, December 30th.\n\n\n\nLocal Author\, Sharon Brubaker\, will be signing her books\, The Greening\, The Leafing and The Blossoming - a series\, and her newest Between Earth and Sea: A Selkie Tale. We hope you'll come and meet Sharon.\n\n\n\nWendy Gill and Joe Paulus will be performing live music during the Opening Reception.\n\n\n\nThe Event is free
