The second National Opioid Crisis Community Summit, on Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Dec. 11, will feature a keynote address by Dr. Jerome Adams, Surgeon General of the United States. The summit will include federal, state and local leaders collaborating to address the challenges brought on by this national addiction crisis. Harford County Executive Barry Glassman and Cecil County Executive Dr. Alan McCarthy will welcome address attendees atto the summit, which will include afternoon panels focused on prevention, intervention and treatment. The host for this event, APG Senior Commander, Maj. Gen. Randy S. Taylor, will deliver opening and closing remarkshost the summit. This second Opioid Summit builds on the efforts begun with APG’sthe first summit in Sept. 2017, and the state-wide distribution of some 100,000 drug disposal bags, facilitated on APG in cooperation with the Maryland National Guard and officials from Harford, Cecil, Kent and Baltimore counties, conducted during Discovery Fest on APG in April 2018.
