Armstrong Conducts Avenge Hunger Month

Rising Sun, MDSeptember is Hunger Action Month, a national focus on helping to fight hunger and food insecurity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) defines food insecurity as a lack of consistent access to food for an active, healthy life. In Maryland, one in nine people struggle with hunger, and one in seven are children. Armstrong will conduct Avenge Hunger Month during the month of September. The goal is to help create an awareness for the need and provide resources to help reduce the need. Avenge Hunger Month is an extension of Armstrong’s Breaking Bread initiative that began in 2009 to provide resources for food pantries, soup kitchens and other social services. These resources include monetary donations and non-perishable food.

Armstrong will enlist the help of the community through food drives within their local stores and participating area businesses. If you would like to donate food, donations can be brought to 122 S. Queen Street, Rising Sun, MD 21911 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm) or community events, where Armstrong will be present.
